Lucy Fitzpatrick

Senior Associate

Lucy is a Senior Associate in Piper Alderman’s national dispute resolution team based in Melbourne.

Lucy is an experienced commercial litigator with broad experience who has practised exclusively in this field since being admitted in 2009. Lucy has particular expertise in large, high profile, complex pieces of litigation, but also has extensive experience representing a broad range of clients in commercial disputes in all Victorian and Federal jurisdictions.

Lucy has acted for directors and company officers in ASIC investigations and class actions, insolvent trading and preference claims, oppression claims and other disputes between shareholders, and also has a background in construction litigation. Lucy has significant experience working with electronic discovery and trial software and has managed a team of 20 paralegals engaged in the review of more than 1 million documents in multiple languages.

Lucy joined the team at Piper Alderman in 2016 and together with Partner Jane Kupsch works closely with clients to achieve commercially focused outcomes to complex disputes.

Significant Recent Experience

  • Banksia Financial Group   Lucy currently acts for senior management in Supreme Court of Victoria proceedings and an ASIC investigation following the collapse of the Banksia Financial Group and appointment of administrators
  • Royal Bank of Scotland  In house reviewing claims for consequential loss arising from the mis-selling of interest rate hedging products to its clients
  • Royal Dutch Shell   Lucy recently acted for a multinational oil company in defence of £300 million international class action relating to African oil spill
  • UBS London  High profile proceedings acting on behalf of a multinational bank in defence of a £400 million complex banking and finance dispute litigated and investigated in the UK, USA and Germany
