Civil Procedure Act 2010
Adelaide based law firm Watsons Lawyers merge with Piper Alderman, effective 1 July 2016.
Lucy Gauvin (Partner), Sarah Clarke (Partner) and Peter Watson (Senior Consultant) joined the firm from 1 July 2016. Their appointment adds bench-depth to an already strong corporate practice nationally, in particular Adelaide. Piper Alderman’s Adelaide corporate team now consists of 9 partners.
The team specialises in all areas of corporate and commercial law with a particular focus on mergers & acquisitions, joint venture agreements, share and asset acquisitions and disposals, capital raisings (share placements, share purchase plans, rights issues and convertible note issues) and project financing.
Lucy, Sarah and Peter advise and partner with clients predominantly in the energy and resources sectors and in relation to their corporate and commercial legal needs.
Watsons’ former Managing Partner, Ms Clarke said in joining Piper Alderman “Our clients are spread across the nation and range from start-up businesses to full scale mining companies. With this spectrum of clients, there is a need for us to have a national reach and to be able to offer a broad range of legal services to cater for our clients’ needs as their businesses develop and grow. We will be fulfilling this requirement by joining Piper Alderman.
Piper Alderman is known for their commerciality, quality of advice and its people. Joining a firm that puts the client front and centre in everything they do resonates deeply with Watson Lawyers – it is a perfect fit”.
Piper Alderman Managing Partner, Tony Britten-Jones, said he is delighted that Watsons Lawyers will be joining the firm.
“These appointments will allow us to significantly enhance our corporate and commercial offering, not only in Adelaide but also nationally. From their grassroots in 2003 to now, Watsons has amassed an impressive client list and we are delighted to welcome such quality to our firm”.
